“Revealing lies,
cover-ups, and abuses is not disloyal.… It is a courageous and
patriotic act.” —Daniel Ellsberg![]() "Ann Wright is a patriot. She is one of the most ethical and principled human beings I have ever met. She went into government service because she felt it was the right thing to do to help her country. —Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Pat Foote Time Tested Books is pleased to announce a talk and signing by Col. Ann Wright, author of DISSENT: Voices of Conscience, Government insiders speak out against the war in Iraq. Former State Department diplomat Col. (ret.) Ann Wright has spent four years traveling worldwide speaking out for peace. She has negotiated with Iraqi parliamentarians, spoken in schools, churches, and peace gatherings, including at Guantanamo and the half-million-person demonstration in Washington, D.C, in January 2007, and fasted for more than a month. DISSENT is her story, and the story of others in government who leaked documents, blew the whistle, or resigned to protest this administration’s policies. Because Col. Wright is an ex-government official and is writing on government affairs, the book DISSENT needs State Department clearance in order to get published. Though the book was submitted to the State Department promptly, it is months overdue in review and approval. While we might not have copies for the event, we will special order them for interested folks. Col. Wright will also be speaking on the struggle to get this book published. Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 7 pm. Time Tested Books is located at 1114 21st Street in Midtown Sacramento. |
